Comments Thread For: Bermane Stiverne: I'm in The Best Shape of My Career

World champion Bermane Stiverne has labelled Deontay Wilder a 'clown' ahead of their crunch heavyweight clash this weekend in in Las Vegas.

WBC champion Stiverne (24-1-1 21KOs) puts his title on the against knockout specialist Wilder, who has so far stopped all 32 of his opponents - including Briton Audley Harrison - and has yet to go beyond four rounds.

The winner wil be on course for a potential unification fight with the formidable Wladimir Klitschko - but 36-year-old Haiti-born Stiverne has dismissed Wilder's chances of taking his belt.

That's been the body-type of current era HW's, so by that standards he's probably right.

That's why I'm leaning heavily on Wilder to capitalize on his 1.) Superior conditioning 2.) Reach 3.) Dynamic punching power.

Bermane is a come & get me fighter attempting to counter as his opponent attacks. Outside of that strategy he has a horrible jab and leans on the ropes a lot, which will play right into Wilder's strengths.

Don't see this going pass seven .... And Wilder will be leaving that ring post-fight a little heavier.

Don't really care who wins, but I am curious to see how Wilder looks when he's up against a guy who can nullify his right hand and take him into the later rounds. Just not sure Stiverne is THAT guy.

Wilder hasn't been past the 4th round. We don't know anything about his stamina and if he's able to carry his punching power late in the fight. We don't know if he can take a good punch or how he'll react when the going gets tough. Wilder is soooooooooooooooo untested it's hard for me to pick him as the winner.

Stiverne's best shot is to be patient, use a high guard, counter with precision timing and carry the fight later where Wilder's stamina or lack thereof will show itself. Wilder's best shot is to get Stiverne early or wait for him to come out of his shell and open up. An early firefight could favor Wilder. Will Wilder get Stiverne early, or will Stiverne take Wilder out in the deep blue sea and drown him? We will find out. Undercard looks interesting. Showtime Extreme will start things off.
