Comments Thread For: Khan Gives Floyd Mayweather Five Day Deadline

Amir Khan (30-3, 19KOs) will not stick around and wait for an offer from WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs). The British star has given Mayweather's team a five day deadline to get him answer on a possible May 2nd clash.

There are ongoing talks for Mayweather to face Manny Pacquiao. Khan is viewed as a viable 'Plan B' option, but Mayweather thinks the British boxer is not a big enough name for a pay-per-view main event.

Khan would be a very good challenge but it's not like he's done so much that he must get a fight. If may v pac isn't made, I'd way rather see may v khan than cotto II or Garcia, but Khan beat Collazo and Alexander, both by decision. Not exactly the murderers row pac had from 08-10 with wins over JMM, de la Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, and Margarito, half of which were stoppage.

Khan needs to try and either fight Bradley or Garcia. Only one that needs to fight Floyd is Pac and that's it. Khan is a damn fool thinking that he's giving Floyd an ultimatum.

This may be the most mature thing I've ever heard out of Khan, especially the acknowledgement that the fight "isn't any closer". He should fight Kell. If he survives he silences a significant number of critics and wins a title for a much better bargaining position with Mayflower. If he looses he does so on a career best payday. Win/win.

5 days = Khan is ringing Eddie Hearn for the Brook fight every 10 minutes because he knows he ain't getting Mayweather.
