  • Comments Thread For: Johnson: I'm Not Peter Chicken Quillin, I Wants Golovkin!

Tureano Johnson (17-1, 12 KOs) is looking to be the standout star on RocNation's debut show this Friday night at the Madison Square Garden Theater, New York. The Ba***** native attracted the boxing public's attention with his terrific performance last year against Curtis Stevens in which he was stopped in the final round of a bout he appeared to be winning. Johnson takes on Alex Theran (17-1, 10 KOs) over ten rounds in which, according to Gary Shaw in a recent BoxingScene interview, the WBC silver belt will also be on the line.

Golovkin should beat this guy up as one of his 4 fights of the year. I respect him for actually calling out Golovkin though, all the other boxers are shaking in their boots.

lol, I am glad other fighters are calling a spade a spade with regards to Quillin. Nothing like criticism from within your own ranks. It's easier to shrug it off when it's just fans on twitter or media folks.

          at Peter Chicken Quillin.

While I admire Johnson's willingness to take this fight, GGG has bigger fish to fry at the moment.

That was an unjustifiable stoppage against Stevens. Johnson won 8 out of the first 9 rounds and was only stunned in the closing minutes of the final round with Curtis not connecting much in that flurry.

That said, I agree Tureano's style doesn't favor him against Golovkin. Guy's still high quality though. Over 300 amateur fights, with 6 years in Cuba. He just lacks power.

GGG's gotta get past Murray 1st, which is no foregone conclusion. I'll laugh me larynx out if Martin comes up with the goods!

It's better for all, even GGG, if Martin comes up with the goods. Otherwise, it's just becoming too predictable and boring.
