Comments Thread For: Artur Szpilka Heading To Al Haymon, Ronnie Shields

Promoter Andrzej Wasilewski has confirmed the recent rumors pertaining to his heavyweight, Polish star Arthur Szpilka (17-1, 12 KOs), who in the coming days will sign a contract with powerful adviser Al Haymon.

Haymon, with nearly 140 fighters in his stable, was signing up an army in 2014 and appears to be signing fighters on a near daily basis in 2015.

At what point will Haymon fighters start to get concerned with the situation as Haymon's stable grows, fight dates & tv budgets get diced up smaller & smaller. I will say it's going to make it trickier for HBO to put on some shows.

Showtime just lost a Canadian carrier in Super Channel, probably something about poor ratings from bad fights.

Showtime, NBC, ESPN, CBS Sports. HBO situation can always change too, especially when Haymon end up controlling 80% of boxing's talent. He is also willing to work with anyone except Arum and Duva.

When you become a monopoly, you inherit all the problems of a monopoly. He needs to be able to keep all those people happy. You forgot to mention Roc Nation, and they've already found a way to attack Haymon's foundation. They've offered multi-million dollar deals to Wilder, Thurman, and Quillin, but the fighters were forced to turn them down. What happens if Wilder gets destroyed by Steiverne and ends up like Seth Mitchell? He had a guaranteed deal in place. I suspect they'll make big offers to Spence and J-Rock soon enough.

The NBC deal looks to be a non-profit generating deal. He bought airtime, no one expects there to be much in ad revenue, definitely not enough to cover the expected purses. His recent ESPN & Showbox cards were heavily subsidized.

As of right now, Haymon is able to keep everybody happy because of the Showtime money. He's been able to have unaccountable access to the Showtime budget because he provides them Mayweather - Showtime doesn't care so much about ratings as they do brand - and they want the Mayweather brand. As the Mayweather contract comes to an end, things could get interesting should the ratings continue to not support the budget.

After he loses to Stiverne, Wilder will fight Szpilka in his comeback fight.

                You heard it here first.

Forget the haters. Al Haymon is a legend. Szpilka is the baldest fighter in the sport. This is big.
