Comments Thread For: Klitschko To Spar With Parker For Upcoming Defense

Rising New Zealand heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker has accepted an invitation to spar with world champion Wladimir Klitschko. Parker will help the giant Ukrainian prepare for his next title bout at a camp in Austria in April.

Parker has turned down two previous invitations to work with Klitschko because the timings didn't suit his own schedule. Parker featured on Klitschko's undercard in his successful title defence against Australian Alex Leapai in Germany last April where relationships between the two fighter's promoters expanded.

According to Larry Holmes, Joseph Parker is a heavyweight to keep one's eye on, so their sparring ought to be beneficial both to both fighters.

Either Jospeh Parker has improved out of sight in the last 2 years or there's something really wrong with pro heavyweight boxing. Parker couldn't beat the guy training down the road from my house to contest in the final of the Oceania spot for the Olympics and now he's sparring with the world champion!? Wtf is going on!?

It's just a sparring partner. Whoever fits the bill. Young undefeated guy about the same size as Jennings... Fits the bill.

What worries is that Jennings has a huge 84 inch reach and will have longer range than Wladimir. Parker has short arms for his height.

So what exactly would he get from it? I could call my little cousin over and beat him up in sparring and will end up learning absolutely nothing.

Longer reach but does he have longer arms I wonder? Reach factors in shoulder width.

Parker's still an apprentice & needs to be fighting at least 5 times a year. His management should squeeze in a fight in Europe while he's there.
