Comments Thread For: Cotto's Adviser Does Not Rule Out Mayweather Clash

Gaby Peñagarícano, legal advisor to WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, makes it clear that there is nothing concrete to the recent twitter announcement of Oscar de la Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions, that a deal is practically done for a Cotto-Canelo showdown on May 2nd, Cinco De Mayo weekend.

Yesterday Cotto says he laid out his terms and he's waiting to hear back. Today Penegracio is talking about nothing has been negotiated. I mean do these ppl even talk to each other. Did you send out a contract or not? I don't see Cotto fighting Floyd, that's another L, loss of all leverage and he'd still have to fight Golovkin for those belts unless Floyd makes him put them on the line.

Right now Cotto is worried about legacy. Another loss to Floyd damages him as a guy that can't win the big fights. Unless Floyd offers him a crazy amount to fight him I don't see him taking that fight.
He thinks he can beat Canelo, I think he is wrong, and may be able to make more money if he get a a bigger PPV upside vs what Floyd will most likely offer him.

So basically Floyd is not only NOT fighting the fights we want to see, but he is preventing fights between other fighters we want to see. There is a word for this. Cancer.

Agreed. Floyd and Haymon are cancer to this sport.

              I don't care about Cotto-Canelo. Mayweather-Cotto 2 is far more interesting.

lol so is bob arum and network battles can we please quit picking sides on the cancers? the real problem was canelo wanting may 2nd u cant think in a business of money that showtime al haymon or mayweather is going to let that happen like him or hate him canelo needs to come to terms that mayweather is the bigger star which obviously eats canelo from the inside. Its pretty clear al haymon and bob arum are the 2 cancers of the sport and it seems like whichever fighter people are a fan of is whos side they pick on the promotional aspect as well im sorry but thats just ridiculous we need to be equal opportunity *******s when it comes to al haymon and arum and even oscar these days tho hes better at pretending to do things for the fans
