Comments Thread For: Stiverne’s Manager: Wilder’s Career Well Choreographed

Camille Estephan is not the first person to raise doubts about Deontay Wilder’s career. It’s understandable that Estephan would want to diminish Wilder, given that a fighter he manages, heavyweight titleholder Bermane Stiverne, will defend against Wilder on Jan. 17 on Showtime.

    Deontay Wilder's resume:
    Malik Scott. 96 seconds.
    Sergey Liakhovich. 103 seconds.
    Audley Harrison. 70 seconds.

Too be fair, neither of these guys resumes are all that great. Stiverne has Arreola 2x and Ray Austin (late TKO in a fight he was losing). Stiverne has also been stopped before and had another fight end in a draw.

Stiverne's advantage is quick counterpunching. He'll need it in January.

I can see what he is saying to a point but it's pretty hard, very difficult to stage 32 KO's out of 32 fights in the HW division because any opponent can probably KO you as well given the weight these guys have. So, there has got to be something that Wilder is bringing to the table that provides this consistency....you can look at GGG, Kovalev, Wlad and Matthysse as well.....it's called power.

Stiverne is a good boxer but he doesn't provide the movement needed to evade Wilder's power and reach. People are going to see on the 17th, Stiverne is getting dropped like the rest of Wilder's opposition has. He is durable and may take Wilder a little longer to do it but I personally think that Wilder will come at him early and try to beat him down to prove a point.

While neither of these fighters have great resumes, I believe Wilder is gonna get the better of it. Say what you want about Wilder and who he's fought, but his power is real! People forget that Mike Tyson didn't fight anyone either before he fought James Tillis, he was just demolished tomato cans much the same way that Wilder's doing now.

Also Wilder has good amateur experience and brought home a bronze metal in '08.

I believe that Wilder may possibly be the heavyweight version of John "The Beast" Mugabi.

Wilder is so fast, his fights are measured in seconds instead of minutes.

That's exactly why Wilder is going to get KTFO

On January 17, Wilder is going to find out (just like Gary Russell Jr. a few months ago) that there is a big difference between Single A and the Major Leagues.

I am not sure if you are familiar with or saw Michael Grant fight in his heyday. If you did, you will know what Stiverne's manager is talking about. Grant's career was choreographed and he was a beast who was knocking guys out left and right.....until he stepped in the ring with Lennox Lewis.

Wilder is a modern day version of Michael Grant and Bermane Stiverne will be his Waterloo.....I mean Lennox Lewis.
