Comments Thread For: Amir Khan-Devon Alexander: Pre-Fight Report Card

by Cliff Rold - Longtime scribe Steve Kim asked this week whether this week’s Showtime main event is an ‘elimination match’ for a showdown with Floyd Mayweather.

Both Amir Khan and Devon Alexander have been floated before as possible opponents for the Welterweight leader. Of the two, Khan is probably the more marketable opponent. With chatter up again for a showdown with Manny Pacquiao, a fight with either is going to piss a lot of people off.

People have been pissed off, at varying levels, for five years. It hasn’t meant a fight. There is a balance now between the angry and the apathetic. Expect the latter to lose less sleep next year.

Whether this is a dress rehearsal for the big PPPV B-side or not, we have an interesting clash between a pair of former titlists who both need the win. Whether necessity adds up to entertainment, given the styles at play, remains to be seen. [Click Here To Read More]

Im backing Alexander by close decision or SD. I think intangibles goes to Devon. Khan has to be first, when hes defensive he never throws never really looks to counter, more so with Hunter but he still isnt a cojnter puncher. Khans speed makes up for a lot of his deficincies, he brings his jab back low, now that hes pawing with the jab he sometimes drops his hand to his side. He only recently started using his legs as a means of defense, still goes to high guard to shell up and pulls straight back, he also lunges in a line when he throws.

I hate Devon, but Im pulling for him, he wont get Floyd, but Id rather Khan fight Brook over Khan vs Floyd. Gives Floyd more of a reason to fight Manny if Khan loses as well.

id pick khan although im hoping alexander beats him cause khans been arrogant of late. My problem with alexander is I doubt he's a natural southpaw cause he seems to hang on the front foot as though thats his dominant foot much like tyson cave does.

The reason Alexander is so inaccurate is because he pulls his punches! That also gives him deceptive speed.

Khan is Floyd's back door fight.
I'd like to see that door closed.

                  Khan will lose

Yes, Khan will lose to Alexander.
All throughout training, Khan spoke of Mayweather, Pacquiao and Roach. He is so obsessed with those 3 characters that he forgot he was training for Alexander.
