Comments Thread For: Froch: Hearn Meeting With Haymon For Chavez Fight

IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch is hoping to finalize a showdown with Julio César Chávez Jr. in Las Vegas next year after revealing that his promoter, Eddie Hearn, is to hold talks this week. Froch has been inactive since knocking out George Groves at Wembley Stadium in May. Froch has been ordered to face IBF mandatory James DeGale, but much prefers to face Chavez Jr. in Las Vegas and is willing to vacate his IBF title to get there.

Poor Chavez. He's going to end up paying Haymon and Top Rank, a la Pacquiao. But it seems Haymon is moving ahead as if confident that Chavez is a free agent. Wish we knew ahead of time how this turns out.

Many fighters have left their promoters to join Hearn in the UK. Lawsuits get made but the fighters still fight and Hearn still promotes. I am not sure what happens since, but I know fighters still carry on.

It's a dumb move in my eyes, but more than likely he will lose over 25% of his purse to both promoters.

Just wondering if people think this is a big enough fight to go PPV in America? Hearn and Froch seem to think so and are using that as justification for not fighting GGG. Saying that the GGG fight isn't PPV but the Chavez fight is, in Las Vegas.

Doesn't seem to me to be a big fight, and if it was on PPV i can't see it doing that well.

Yeah that's what I suspect will happen. Like Pacquiao. I think he paid two promoters until like 2011-12 or something. Counterproductive to me. Either he really is a free agent or he's going to have to cough up some money to Arum now. Front end always better than back-end so he should try to work out a deal right now.

LOL, trying to make a fight with the adviser?

These guys are pretty optimistic about the fight getting off considering Chavez is about to enter Andre Ward's world of the courtroom battles

Chavez and Froch are both bums. GGG would end them both on the same night.

I especially hate Froch, that ugly white supremacist, PED fiend. Englishmen are just disgusting.

                    Hope they get it done.

I remember I used to hate Carl Froch at the beginning of the super six tournament. I hated him when he kept calling out Joe. I hated him when he got the nod over my boy Direll. But somewhere between then and now he's won me over and become one of my favorite fighters. He's kind of an a---hole but he is a constant professional who represents the sport very well.
