  • Comments Thread For: Roman Gonzalez Stops Rocky Fuentes in The Sixth

Yokohama International Swimming Pool, Yokohama, Japan - Defending his world title for the first time, WBC flyweight champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (41-0, 35 KOs) retained his crown with a sixth round stoppage of Rocky Fuentes (35-7-2, 20 KOs), who couldn't recover from the hard punching assault after going down.

Gonzalez captured the title, which was his third divisional belt, in September with a ninth round TKO of Akira Yaegashi in Tokyo.

This comes as no surprise. I had Gonzalez winning in the fifth, but the sixth makes sense. Hopefully his new manager can secure him some better opponents in 2015.

No worse than the second best active fighter in the world right now. Seven in a row by stop; 12 of 13. The only guy that lasted?

            That's the rematch we need.

Hopefully HBO gets on board as has been rumored and ponies up a nice amount for that rematch. Both guys deserve it.

What's crazy is that Roman is thinking of working with Nacho now. Can he actually get even better? That's a scary thought.
