Sergey Kovalev begins his crusade to the title of "Best Light Heavyweight ever" on Saturday night.
Respect to Hopkins and Kovalev for both taking this dangerous fight and choosing to unify titles. Great for boxing. True champions.

Just an observation, but Hopkins is listed as 6'1 and Kovalev as 6 foot....saying this, it looks opposite.
Gonna be an intriguing fight (probably not an action fight as Hopkins isn't that type usually)...
If Hopkins wins, I am not so sure this will be the biggest feather in his cap, but if Kovalev wins, then it will be his best win...probably ever. Time will only tell how good Kovalev is, win lose or draw.
FAR too early to start calling Kovalev great even in the event of him winning (LOTS of questions still about Kovalev and with only a handful of fights against mainly lower tier opposition, he hasn't had to face the adversity to answer these questions), but he looks to be good. Beterbiev may have something to say to that though-just like the amateurs. Would be good to see in the future-good story.
I wanna see Kovalev against Stevenson-which is a good fight and even in terms of odds....Both guys have a good chance because of power, the question is who can get their shot off first and Stevenson definitely has the better chance with that and better hand speed (and shoots the same left hand that sparked Kovalev out in the ams). Keep in mind I despise Stevenson and like Kovalev, but you have to be honest...
For what it's worth, Stevenson has a crap chin, and the jury is still out on Kovalev's chin...something tells me that people may have overlooked and under-rated Bernard's power in this fight (sure, he hasn't ko'd anyone for a long time, but he hits harder than people give him credit for, and after all-this is boxing-anything can happen).
