The hybrid offering of Showtime’s November 1 boxing tripleheader was never intended to crack the list of the sport’s most watched events of 2014. It’s a good thing, since it barely made a ripple in the ratings.

Saturday night’s show from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago saw betting favorites Andrzej Fonfara, Tomoki Kameda and Javier Fortuna all post wins. The event registered an average of 281,000 households, with a peak average of 413,000 tuned in to the action.

No surprise really. I wonder how much the Friday ShoBox cards regularly draw. I also wonder how the last ShoBox card, which was on a Saturday (Love-Medina), performed compared to these two "Special Edition" cards

Overall, this show performed better than the entire telecast for Love-Medina. But in comparing main events, the ratings were fairly similar, Fonfara-Ngumbu was only slightly better.

Love-Medina came on Labor Day weekend, and went up against Opening Week of college football, specifically #1 Florida St v. Oklahoma St.

Fonfara-Ngumbu went up against college football games on seemingly every channel - ABC, CBS, Fox, ESPN, FS1...
