  • Comments Thread For: Adamek Admits Career is Likely Over if Szpilka Wins

Former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (49-3, 29 KOs) admits that his career is likely over if he loses on Saturday night to up and coming countryman Artur Szpilka (16-1, 12 KOs). The heavyweight contest will headline a big night of boxing at the Krakow Arena in Poland.

Adamek is trying to recover from a tough decision loss from a few months ago to Czar Glazkov. But Szpilka is also trying to get his career back on track, after getting knocked out at the start of the year by undefeated heavyweight Bryant Jennings.

Adamek accomplished much more than Szpilka at heavyweight let alone boxing career.

Adamek is far from a bum, but he has been through hell and back. The beating he got from Vitali he has not and will not fully recover from.

I've met and talked with Adamek. He's a good and humble guy. Tough too.
That being said, he's a bit small for heavyweight.

I talked with him right after the Klitschko flight as we were both delayed at the Warsaw airport. He was gracious and nice in defeat and made time for anybody who wanted it.
His wife encouraged people to come up and talk with him and despite feeling down he was there for his fans.

He took his beatings like a man and always displayed toughness and grit even beating Briggs bitd with a broken nose and other guys with bad hands, etc.

A helluva fighter. No shame that his career is pretty much over.

Szpilka is one of the least durable fighters in the sport, Adamek is one of the toughest. If Goral can't beat Szpilka, he should absolutely retire.
