Comments Thread For: Arum: Chavez Would Prefer Froch Fight Over Golovkin

Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, says Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-1-1, 32KOs) is more interested in accepting a fight with IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch than he is in a possible fight with WBA/IBO/WBC interim-middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs).

Chavez, currently in a legal tussle with his promoter Top Rank, wants to become the first Mexican fight to win a title at 168-pounds. Froch is so determined to fight Chavez, in Las Vegas, that he's willing to drop vacate his IBF title to avoid a mandatory defense against James DeGale.

Of course he would; more money for him. But there seems to be a disconnect. Didn't Chavez say that Top Rank hasn't approached him about a Froch fight?

I agree with Bob that the best fight for Chavez of Bradley, Froch and GGG would be Bradley. I see the other guys destroying him, without big problems.

It's funny that we still talk so much about Chavez, he's like the golden treassure if you can get the fight. Shouldn't be too hard and the reward is big.

Rigo owns that position I'm afraid. Ward is certainly the most reluctant to move up in weight having cleared out a division. Too many monsters at 175 I'm guessing.

Or perhaps the same reason why GGG is reluctant to move up. The money is in the smaller fighters coming up.

Duh. Froch is a bigger fight, and he won't **** himself from body shots by the 4th round.

LOL @ "monsters." The best fighter in the division is 50

ward has nothing left to achieve at super middle though. and I'd argue that a fight v the winner of hokins v kovalev would be at least as big as a fight against GGG.

in contrast GGG v Ward would be nothing compared to GGG v Cotto/Canelo
