  • Comments Thread For: Gennady Golovkin Blasts Out Rubio in Two Rounds

StubHub Center, Carson, California - WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs) scored a second round knockout over Marco Antonio Rubio (59-7-1, 51KOs) to pick up the WBC interim-middleweight belt and becomes the mandatory challenger to WBC full champion Miguel Cotto. An active first round with Rubio holding his own and answering back when Golovkin would land hard shots. In the second round, Golovkin landed a combination of punches that sent Rubio down. He failed to make it up before the ten count in time, but he was complaining over the count.

I think that went the way everyone expected it to. Fast count or not, I didn't see Rubio going to the 12th, as hard as the commentators were trying to push that notion.

Horrid ending, but damn he made Rubio realize that he had no chance if he kept on fighting.
