  • Comments Thread For: Spada Had Alleged Scale Tampering For Rubio Fight

Marco Antonio Rubio's inability to make the middleweight limit must have come as no surprise to Domenico Spada.

Last month, Spada made allegations - to BoxingScene.com's Ben Jacobs - that someone manipulated the official scale for his April fight with Rubio.

He believes the scale was altered to ensure Rubio made the 160-pound limit for their WBC interim-world title fight.

Shit we gonna have to start treating the scales like gloves, always have back ups just in case the integrity of it comes into question.

easily. probably with a thousand bucks in cash in a paper bag.

i've never been to mexico, but it's silly to assume that their boxing officials can't be bought. cops in mexico shake down american tourists, FFS.

people get on america, and in some cases they have a point, but las vegas is by far the most neutral boxing venue in the world. nothing comes close.

I've been in Mexico probably 40+ times and I've never have any problems at all. Just recently while driving between Vallarta and Puerto Penasco, we have to stop twice at checkpoints because Federal Police wanted to review vehicles for arms, and drugs and they were very polite all the time. Mexico receives around 23 million tourists every year and I am pretty sure most of them have been OK there (I guess the one suffering or complaining of abuse are a tiny portion). Maybe boxing officials could be bought (not only in Mexico but everywhere) but it is wrong to try to generalize especially when a person has never been in a place.

It's an old scam, works best at home. Part of the home cooking. Spada trained so hard, he came in at jr mw. I bet he can't make jr mw again.
