Comments Thread For: Ricky Burns To Face Alexandre Lepelley, Gonzalez Out

A late switch for the junior welterweight debut of former champion Ricky Burns (36-4-1, 11KOs), who gets a new opponent for the start of his new weight campaign on Saturday night at First Direct Arena in Leeds. Burns will now face Alexandre Lepelley (17-1-1, 3KOs), who replaces Esteban Gonzalez.

Burns is coming back from back to back defeats. He lost his WBO lightweight crown to Terence Crawford in March and then came back to lose an upset a split decision to Dejan Zlaticanin in June.

Burn gets outboxed. He appears to have a sparring partner mentality, depending on home town protection and making it to the final bell. Survive and prosper, at home.

Burns couldn't even beat an unknown in his last fight. He is done at the high levels and was never high level to begin with. Cant live off of the Rocky Martinez win forever.
