Niyomtrong "Knockout" Freshmart played with fire in all but giving away the final round of his strawweight bout with visiting Carlos Buitrago, but managed to edge out a decision over 12 rounds Wednesday afternoon in Buriram, Thailand.

Scores were 115-113 across the board for Freshmart, who is now in line to face the winner of the strawweight title fight between Hekkie Budler and Xiong Zhao Zhong later this month. [Click Here To Read More]

No way in hell Carlos was going to win that fight out there. He would have had to knock the dude out. A decision was not happening.

Ha, not every decision that goes to a Thai fighter in Thailand is a robbery!

It was a close fight, and honestly wouldn't have been out of the question if Buitrago won by the same exact scores. But that said, he could've pushed himself a lot harder. There were stretches where Niyomtrong and his twig-like frame was walking Buitrago down, which is inexcusable.

Buitrago should have learned his lesson from the Sabillo fight - another close fight on the road that was thee for the taking.

ok 99% of them are. I agree that he should have done more. When fighting in those kinds of places you have to think KO.

Niwlukrak was the clear aggressor landed/controlled a lot of the action very close fight, fair decision.

Buitrago was doing well when he used his jab he just couldn't keep the little guy off him enough stop crying about robberies. whiners.

Um, Thailand isn't unknown. Great country, 67m people, big place for tourism, nice beaches, a long, proud history of good boxing.

Anyone shouting "robbery" clearly didn't see the fight. It was a close and competitive fight and those are never robberies.

And what's with everyone acting like fighters are getting "robbed" in Thailand all the time? Thais have a big advantage at home because they're used to fighting in the hot weather, and rarely are these championship fights controversial. Y'all just prisoners of the moment from the Arroyo-Ruenroeng fight, or what? Even that fight was far from a robbery.

Watch HBO and Showtime shows and you'll see worse decisions every month. Fighting in a home town or home country has advantages in EVERY part of the world, but it's funny to see people overreacting to a decision of a fight they haven't even seen, and thinking Thailand is the Asian version of German boxing.
