  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Canelo-Cotto is Second Biggest in Boxing

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya says Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs) vs. Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) is the second biggest fight in the sport of boxing, only behind the highly demanded fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

I like this they put Mayweather and showtime under the gun, Mayweather losing those May/September dates if he doesnt fight Pacquaio. Without those dates I predict Mayweather doesnt even past Pacquaio numbers.

First is Mayweather vs Pacquiao, Second is Mayweather vs Golovkin, third is Mayweather vs Hopkins at 160, fourth is Ward vs Golovkin, fifth is Golovkin vs Canelo, sixth is Golovkin vs Cotto, and seventh is Canelo vs Cotto.

      Winners in Bold.

Third fight was too tough for me to pick a winner for.

You would think Floyd would counter the second biggest fight in boxing with the biggest fight in boxing but no........ Manny Pacquiao has JMM problems. Bring on Amir Khan though.

Ummm, no. Oscar is right about Canelo vs Cotto being a huge draw and probably the second best fight in terms of pay-per-view sales that can be made right now. Golovkin is not a pay-per-view draw and no one expects Mayweather to fight him or Mayweather to fight Hopkins. No one cares for Ward outside of his hometown and some British fans. Golovkin vs Canelo would be interesting no doubt but Cotto is a much bigger draw than Golovkin ever could be.

Mayweather would never fight GGG. Maywether would never fight Hopkins. Ward is Goosens son. GGG vs Canelo is good but he's in the little theatre in MSG. Cotto fills up the big boy! Cotto vs Canelo is #2 my friend.

Mayweather vs Garcia and that will get more buys than Canelo Cotto because of Casual fans and Mayweather fans.
