  • Comments Thread For: Algieri: The Best Version of Myself Beats Manny Pacquiao!

WBO 140-pound champion Chris Algieri (20-0, 8KOs) expects nothing less than a victory on November 22nd when he moves up to catch-weight of 144-pounds to face Manny Pacquiao for the WBO title at welterweight.

Some believe Pacquiao is no longer the same fighter and physically slowed down after suffering a deadly knockout at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012. Algieri is not concerned with Pacquiao's alleged decline. He plans to be at his best and feels his best form is good enough to beat any version of Pacquiao.

Not just that but Ruslan was head hunting going after that eye and neglecting to do the approach work necessary. Pacquiao won't be that naive but will hit harder, more accurately, and more often.

I would consider Algeri making it to the 2nd half of the fight as a success for him. He's not going to be able to absorb the kind of damage that all of Pacquiao's previous opponents have had to in order to make the final bell. Maybe he'll just give up like Mosley and go into full retreat but I don't think he'll have the mentality required for that (an old pro not worried about losing but doesn't want to be stopped).

pac can be just as stubborn with looking for the head, despite him clearly being able to hurt alot of guys with body shots, he rarely throws the ****ers

still see him stopping algieri tho

wide UD much more likely, algieri is not a counter puncher and shells up when opponent tees off. no power, decent chin, good speed but thats about it.

What if Algieri wins, though? . . What next? Algieri vs Floyd? ... man, Pacquiao should win easy since Chris has no power but if he can't cut the ring off he might lose on points.
