Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Hopes To Continue Promoting Mayweather

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Will the working relationship between Golden Boy Promotions and Floyd Mayweather Jr. continue beyond Saturday night? Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya is thinking positive.

Golden Boy has co-promoted Mayweather's last ten fights. But in the last few months Mayweather has continued to expand his own promotional company, Mayweather Promotions, by signing fighters and obtaining promotional licenses in several states. Mayweather's company is the lead promoter for Saturday's rematch with Marcos Maidana at the MGM Grand.

I think Mayweather is finished with GBP after this fight. Schafer is the reason why Mayweather worked with GBP before. Now he is gone and so has all the benefits of working with GBP.

They were really successful together but it's time for Mayweather promotions to go solo and become a force in boxing.

Its time for Floyd to do what Oscar refused too. Be the face of the organization, and be of as little embarrassment as possible while Leonard, Haymon and Shaeffer run the show from the shadows.

Who else is he going to work with? Not like he's fighting his own crappy stable for his next two fights. Floyd will go back to Golden Boy.

ah yeah, good luck with that. He's been in prison for beating a woman and is one of the most dislikable non charismatic figures in sports.
