  • Comments Thread For: Broner-Taylor: Early Results From Cincinnati

Adrien Broner returns home to Cincinnati for the first time in more than two years, as the former three-division champ faces Emannuel Taylor in a scheduled 12-round super lightweight bout.

The bout headlines a Showtime-televised tripleheader, with Lucas Matthysse facing unbeaten Roberto Ortiz in the co-feature. Wins by Broner and Matthysse are supposed to set up a head-on collision either later this year or in early 2015.

Rounding out the tripleheader, Andre Berto embarks on the comeback train. The former welterweight titlist returns to the ring following a 14-month recovery from injuries, hoping to put behind his upset stoppage loss to Jesus Soto Karass as he faces Steven Upsher Chambers in a 10-round bout. Berto looked like crap. Ever since he's with Virgil hunter, he's looked like crap. Virgil is by far the most overrated trainer

All celebrity trainers are overrated. But the title of "most overrated" goes to Freddie Roach, and its not even close. At least Hunter has a boy he took from scratch that became right now one of the 2-3 best fighters in the world. Roach's claim to fame is a guy that was already a world champion and Roach's gym just happend to be the first he saw when he got to America.

Berto looked like ****. Upsher wouldn't throw. When he did, he had an effect and Berto even looked unsteady at times. I don't think Berto can take a punch.

Very early in his career an anonymous Berto team member told Max Kellerman that Berto had a weak chin. Turns out that has been true his entire career.

I was at the fight and he def looked terrible to me. He's horrible defensively. If he fights anyone with a respectable amount of power, he'll get his clock cleaned.

Upsher looked like he didn't want to fight.

Upsher is known for throwing a lot of punches & his high activity...it was weird he didn't throw too many punches.
