Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Eyes Saunders-Korobov on Chisora-Fury II

One man's loss is another man's gain. On Thursday, Peter Quillin (31-0, 22KOs) announced that he was vacating the World Boxing Organization's middleweight title. He was scheduled, at least on paper, to face mandatory challenger Matt Korobov (24-0, 14KOs) on November 8th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The next contender is line for a shot is #2 ranked Billy Joe Saunders (20-0, 11KOs), who is promoted by Frank Warren.

That would be a great card. A rarity for Frank these days.

I think Korobov and Top Rank should take the offer, it'll give them a good pay-day and it's a very winnable fight for Korobov. Then Miguel Cotto has an option at 160lbs if the WBC tries to force Cotto to fight Golovkin.

The Eubank Jr. fight can wait - this is the one Saunders needs and has been working towards all these years. He's paid his domestic dues. If he were to win a title, he can then command a shitload more money for a Eubank Jr. fight down the line. With that said, I've never seen a single second of Korobov. Is he too much for Saunders?

I think he has a very good chance of beating Saunders. He's got a stunning amateur pedigree and he has performed well in recent bouts. And obviously even haymon saw that he was too risky. But I think like you say it's the right fight for billy. He's worked hard and deserves a chance at the title. Eubank jr can wait until then.

lol, doubt they were making it next. I think the most Frank mentioned it was that they would at some point in some time

Not at all. Korobov isn't very good. It's actually a winnable fight for Saunders who I don't really rate either. Much better chance at getting a title than fighting Qullin imo

I'll believe it when I see 'em both in the ring, would be a great fight though.
