Cuban heavyweight Luis Ortiz is closing out his workouts very hard. Ortiz, along with his team of Herman Caicedo, Claudio Lamothe and Javier Jiménez are very confident of victory on Thursday, September 11th when he faces Lateef Kayode at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, in a twelve round bout for the WBA interim-world title.

Jay Jimenez, Ortiz's manager, said - "We will go to Las Vegas to show that Luis has the skills and power to fight the best. Boxing fans will witness that Ortiz is ready to fight for a world title. He will surprise everyone"

Yup, at least we know he isn't on the Mike Perez/Odlanier Solis diet.

Kayode gets KO'd. That simple. Well, picked clean anyway.

i have no idea who this dude is.

does anybody know how tall he is, and what he weighs when he's in shape? does his weight stay consistent in his fights?
what's his reach? how many fights does he have?

              don't make me boxrec him.

He keeps himself in shape all the time, I'll say he is about 6'4" or 6'5" and the only Cuban HW that hasn't go the gonzalez-solis-perez way...

I know Ortiz. His best opponent is a zombie version of Monte Barrett but I gotta say I never seen him look this good a shape and the Barrett fight showed me one thing: He's good enough to owe it to himself to find out if he can get to the top. I can at least say that. I personally think he crushes Kayode but when a guy hasn't been pressed there's no telling.

I think even though Kayode was a cruiserweight, with his bone structure, he will look like a heavyweight on fight night. He is big and strong but there are some fundamentals that are missing because he can be lumbering at times. Ortiz has a pedigree background and more fundamentals but lacks quality pro opposition. I'm going to lean toward Ortiz by decision
