A replacement opponent has been found for Scott Quigg atop the September 13 bill in Manchester, England. The unbeaten super bantamweight will now face Stephane Jamoye, who replaces an injured Paulus Ambunda.

The news was confirmed through Matchroom Sport's press agent Tuesday afternoon (local time).

Quigg (28-0-2, 21KOs) was angling for a showdown with fellow unbeaten 122 lb. titlist Leo Santa Cruz, who is scheduled to fight on the same day in the United States. Both fighters wound up with showcase bouts instead, featuring opponents moving up in weight. Santa Cruz will face former sparring partner Manuel Roman in a supporting bout to the Pay-Per-View televised rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana.

Hours beforehand, Quigg will defend his alphabet title against Jamoye, a former bantamweight contender moving up in weight for the late assignment. [Click Here To Read More]

Quigg and LSC could be the semi main of the Floyd/maidana fight. Instead they are fighting on separate cards, LSC in a fight no one will really see because its early on the ppv and Quigg because his fight wont be on in the US.

Imagine what the exposure would do for the winner?

Jamoye is a reasonable fight at late notice, certainly compared to Munyai. Presume Hearn's booked him because he's a) lost a step and b) can be used to compare him to Santa Cruz in the b/s stakes.

Jamoye just got absolutely slaughtered in a title fight a division below Quigg's four months ago, and now he is a "reasonable" fill-in? Of course, it wasn't like the original opponent, Ambunda, was going to be much competition either.

Just getting you ready for Brook vs Harrison. It will be hard to get anybody decent to walk into that ambush cheap. He'll get a bunch of dropouts for a bunch of low ball proposals and wind up with Harrison or his peruvian twin.
