Former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (31-2, 24 KOs) will likely work with Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach for his scheduled return on December 6th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, according to TVA Sports. While two sources close to the boxer have confirmed the information, Roach has yet to confirm the news on his end.

It's not clear if Roach will actually be working in Bute's corner, because the trainer will be deep in training camp with WBC middleweight Miguel Cotto for his ring return on December 13th at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Roach is going to tell him to be more aggressive but I don't think Bute has it in him anymore.

It was fun to see Froch destroy him, but it's been a long time and I really miss this guy now. It was the Joppy and Andrade fights which got me into him for a while, but I couldn't be bothered anymore when he started fighting no-hopers like Brinkley and Magee. The Grachev and Pascal fights were just sad.

Bad move. He won't get Roach's UNDIVIDED attention. Bute will be forced to fight when Pacquaio, Cotto and Zou Shimming are not fighting! This is exactly the issue Chavez has been having with Roach and why Amir Khan publicly stated he had to leave Roach.

He needs a good trainer that is not over committed as Roach is.

This is what Bute should do :

Go to an old school ruff gym in Philly or Detroit and spar with the toughest and meanest guys in his weight range full trotttle

If he can hang ( be very competitive )there for two weeks and doesn't complain or fade , then he's still got it and should come back ..... If he sucks or is not up to it everyday ...... Then he should not come back at all

I like Bute ....... But his last 2 fights were a disgrace ...certainly the one with a completely shot Pascal who only won because of Bute's frozen state

He should also get Russ Amber on his side , he will know how to whip him back

Bute was a protected champ that got exposed by Froch in his one and only true step up as a Champion.

Yeah this might be his best bet. He will have to challenge himself to see if he really wants it again. He was very unsure of himself and hasn't been able to let his hands go. Spar some different dudes, see if a new coach can get him to throw punches again. He kinda woke up in the last 1/3rd of the Pascal fight, and then had a big 12th round so there might be something still there
