Comments Thread For: Kell Brook: I Proved To Critics That I Belong at Top Level

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22KOs) feels confident that he finally proved his worth to the critics who never saw him as a top level fighter. Last Saturday night, Brook captured his IBF title with a twelve round majority decision win over previously undefeated Shawn Porter (24-1-1, 15KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Maybe not top level but with his size and skill he is a problem for anyone. I have him #5 behind manny, tim, maidana and JMM.

It’s the classic problem… nobody wants to fight a risky battle against a nameless, potentially dangerous opponent. Brook’s had to wait for years for his shot. He should have got that opportunity earlier.

I’ve always thought of him as a much more complete fighter than Khan because in addition to solid skills he can take a punch too. Porter didn’t appear to hurt him once. I think Brook will hold that belt for a while.

Bradley's another impressive looking fighter that lacks power. He's similar to Porter but with slightly slicker skills. I see Brook winning that, and against an ageing JMM. Maidana would be more interesting. I'd like to see Bradley & Porter fight.

That size and jab are going to be hell for any WW to get past, never mind the chocolate brownie.

Khan and JMM are the 2 realistic big name fights for him next year and I think he has a very favorable chance against either man.
