  • Comments Thread For: Vargas Wants a Juan Manuel Marquez Showdown Next

WBA Junior Welterweight champion Jessie Vargas is fresh off a hard fought victory against Anton Novikov and now he’s ready to move on to his next assignment. While Vargas has different options he can explore, there’s one fight in particular he has his eyes on.

“I want Juan Manuel Marquez. I’m going to go to [StubHub Center Saturday night] and chase him out and see if that’ll heat him up a bit” said Vargas as he smiled. “Of course we’re pursuing that fight but at the end of the day it’s up to my promoter Top Rank and my manager Cameron Dunkin to see what’s next for me. But that’s a fight I want to pursue and I’ve told them that I want that fight and they said they’re going to work on it. So I hope that Marquez shows the same interest”.

This vargas dude gets more gifts at las vegas than de la hoya. A hard puncher will expose him. Isn't broner at light welterweight? I dont like broner, but hell beat this guy.

I can't stand Vargas, he did not win that title and he lost it
a couple of weeks ago, the scoring was whats wrong with the sport - the Russian clearly was making him adjust , his output schanged and he was getting hit clean - disgusting - Vargas gets hit too clean - top ranks match maker will have a hard time selecting opponents because Vargas gets hit, and yhey seriously want to protect that belt - can't wait till they get him outta the way, very bad for the sport...

i can see marquez taking up this fight unless vargas demands both undergo VADA testing.

marquez doesn't do USADA or VADA testing.

This would be one of the most boring fights in history.

                No thanks.

also one of the most one sided.

especially if marquez is roiding which he most likely is and will be.
