  • Mental Lapse Causes Defeat For Gabi

Diosdado Gabi believes he is a strong defensive fighter, but a mental lapse let defending IBF flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan land a devastating one-left hand punch jackpot, ending the Friday night of the poor Filipino challenger with a technical knockout loss in round 8 in Sta. Ynez, California. [details]

Why is there so much talking out of the ass in this article?

This was a great, very eventfull fight, and the article above is poor(almost empty) in content, biased in its presentation, and makes a major insinuation coming out of the blue.

Mental lapse? Gabi just got beaten and was dominated starting from round 3 and ending in round 8.

Dirty Tactics? That's bull****. The fight was very clean.
There was one more KD that was not counted as KD because it happenned a second before the bell. Yes, there was one half-punch/half-push that was counted as a push, but this one incident can hardly be counted as a dirty tactic.

Darchinian's "One-twos"? Has the author of the article even seen the fight?

This sounds much like the Showtime bull**** commentaries, where Darchninian was winning round after round, but they kept saying how great Gabi is.

        Pathetic biased reporters.

Damn I was tryin hard to stay up for this one but i only cought the first 5 rounds or so. I cant believe this guy won, from what I saw his technique was horrible and he was looking for one big punch. He seriously looked like a highschool kid trying to fight, telegraphing his punches, throwing haymakers....I guess it works for him though.

Darchi won by KO, as expected. But i wasn't really impressed. a veteran 30-year-old fighter that he is, he really looked horrible relying only on power. good thing for him his opponent was small and doesn't seem to pack a punch.

and it wasn't really a mental lapse for Gabi, it was Darchi's power that brought him down. Gabi was fading as the fight went on coz he got hurt more and more.

What are you talking about? He outboxed Gabi 6:3 rounds.

Had the fight gone 12 rounds, it would have been an easy W12 for Darchinian.

He looked like an IBF champion to me...

darchinyan has that boxer-puncher-slugger hybrid style, I like watching him fight, I just dont like his lack of defense. someone will come along and knock him off within the year most likely. he does havea somewhat decent chin, but the way he loads up with everything like that on his shots ..just a matter of time until someone hits him when hes loading and they get an easy ko

he is a real IBF champion, but i don't know if he can wrest the other belts. Darchi's power is impressive though, but i was expecting more.
