  • Comments Thread For: Artur Beterbiev vs. Tavoris Cloud is Explored for 9/27

According to sources in southern Russia, former two-time Olympian, two-time European and one-time world amateur champion Artur Beterbiev (4-0, 4 KOs), who now competes under the aegis of Groupe Yvon Michel, can have his dream of fighting a world champion (albeit a former one) come true on Sep. 27 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.

Beterbiev is said to be fighting none other than WBC #9 and WBA #15 ex-IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud (24-2, 19 KOs), who is coming off disastrous 2013 with losses to Bernard Hopkins and Adonis Stevenson.

Are these new Olympic rules set?

Loma and Shiming still qualify if it's just under 15 pro fights... I don't know much other than that

Hell, Beterbiev is good and punches like a MFer, but this a huge step up if true.

Not only that, but he got clipped a coupla times in his last fight by a nobody - not badly and it was simply due to being over-eager in looking for the stoppage, but that kind of carelessness will be punished at a higher level.

Will be keeping an eye on this one, I don't rate Cloud, but he's tough and can ****... if Beterbiev can get through him he'll have to be considered at least a contender in the division.

This should be the final nail in the coffin for Clouds career.
