VERONA, N.Y. – Undefeated middleweight prospect Antoine Douglas weighed in at 155 ½ pounds and once-beaten, former world title challenger Michel Soro tipped the scales at the contracted weight of 157 pounds during Thursday’s official weigh-in for Friday’s landmark telecast of ShoBox: The New Generation, live on SHOWTIME® at 10 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).

The 21-year-old Douglas (14-0, 9 KOs), of Washington, D.C., will take on his toughest test to date against the experienced Soro (23-1, 13 KOs), of France by way of Ivory Coast, in the 10-round middleweight main event from Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, N.Y. Soro, 26, will be making his U.S. debut but has won five bouts in a row since dropping a close decision to defending junior middleweight world champion Zaurbek Baysangurov in 2012.

I love shobox.. I wish they focused more on all the young 2012 Olympians..

Errol spence, breazeale, warren, etc should be fighting on shobox every 8 or 10 weeks

Like I have said time and time again. These guys all put it on the line as they always have for the 200th show - and then you have overprotected prospects out there frightened of anything with a record that that is better than 5-5-1 and 16-9 with a bunch of KO losses. Boxing needs to put an end to crap showcase fights where some prospect is fed sick joke opposition just because the fighter's management is frightened of taking their fighter off his training wheels. ShoBox represents all that is good in Boxing. GUYS WHO ARE WILLING TO RISK A LOSS TO BE SEEN ON TV AND MAKE A NAME FOR THEMSELVES!!!!!

That fight is also the one I want to see most off all the fights (3 fight cards tonight). Unbeaten vs once beaten. The questions is, will Vernon be to Gomez what Judah was to Vernon and hand the youngster his first loss. Sometimes I pick a fighter based on what I call special effects, meaning versatility. Seems like Vernon should be able to hand Gomez his first loss but not sure what Vernon's mindset is.....either just a payday or really wants to get back into title contention. Haven't heard anything from Paris as far as interviews. But 139.2 is a good weight and tells me he might be in shape. Hopefully he hasn't smoked any weed in advance of the fight. Gomez struggled badly a few fights back and his in and out of jail doesn't help his career.
