Comments Thread For: Moreno-Payano Heading To Texas on September 26

The new date for the mandatory defense of the bantamweight world title of the World Boxing Association (WBA), which is held by Panama's Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno, will be on Friday September 26 in the city of Mesquite, Texas. "Chemito" Moreno will fight to Dominican Juan Carlos Payano, in what will be his 13th title defense.

Rouss Laguna Moreno, wife and manager of the global champion, said she received contracts with the new date and venue for the meeting. The fight is set to be held at the Mesquite Arena.

Originally the fight was scheduled for August 8 at the Console Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but given the short window of time, Moreno was unable to get a visa in a timely manner and the fight had to be postponed.

After this fight, Moreno should get himself some 122 action. He'd embarrass Santa Cruz and probably handle Frampton and Quigg without too much trouble (unless it was in their hometowns; then he'd get robbed). Maybe a draw with Rigondeaux.

Moreno would have trouble with any of the above fighters you mentioned. Moreno got beat up by Mares how is he going to embarrass Santa Cruz who throws alot of body and power shots. Moreno is awesome at 118 but he is not strong enough at 122 against world class fighters.
