Comments Thread For: Algieri's Promoter: Jab is Key Tool Against Pacquiao

Promoter Joe DeGuardia is very confident about Chris Algieri's chances to upset Manny Pacquiao on November 22nd in Macau, China. DeGuardia was also confident that Algieri (20-0, 8KOs), a huge underdog at the time, would defeat Ruslan Provodnikov in June. He was right, and Algieri recovered from two knockdowns to win a twelve round split decision and the WBO junior welterweight championship.

Well at least they have the right idea. The double jab is an excellent weapon against Pacquiao. Against anyone, for that matter. Morales used it well, so did Marquez and so did Bradley.

He better be careful with it. Pac may not be what he used to be, but you still need a really good jab to avoid getting countered with the left hand every time you throw it.

Jab and move, though, that's the right idea against Pac these days. Especially as long as this guy is. Best of luck to Algieri.

bradley just flicks his jab, that's why he can't beat pacquiao, so no, he didn't really use it well, morales and marquez have landed some thudding jabs on pacquiao

algieri will probabley be the same as bradley in that regard, but he is alot longer(i think)

I think he's way out of his league here, right style or not. He's got the right idea but I'm not sure he realizes the level of craftmanship and skill that he's about to encounter.

He does flick quite a bit but he landed solid jabs too in their first fight, they were just overlooked.

Now I'm definitely not buying this fight. I can already see it now...algeri circling around the ring just throwing jabs for 12 rounds. Why you think malignaggi never became a ppv attraction. Hell, I don't think he was ever on a ppv undercard.

                  Ummm... okay?

I'd of thought a counter gameplan might of been the way to go..

Manny will finally get the KO he's been chasing in this one. Chris is about to realize the difference in a fighter and an elite fighter.

I really hope they can make this one have a good undercard
