Comments Thread For: Team Cotto: No Talks Yet Regarding Next Opponent

WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) has yet to begin any discussions regarding his next opponent, according to the boxer's legal adviser Gabriel Peñagarícano.

Cotto captured the WBC title in June with a ten round TKO of division ruler Sergio Martinez. Several names have been mentioned in the press for Cotto's next fight. Cotto's next fight is tentative for the first or second week of December.

I have a feelin canelo vs cotto wont happen. I think cotto might lose in December if the opponent isnt the right one. Canelo will keep winning.

My guess is they are waiting until Saturday to make a move, and see not only how good GGG looks but what the gate and ratings will be. He should still just wait until May and fight Floyd if he wins, rematch if he loses he still has Canelo. I don't think he would recover from the beatdown GGG would bring.

When Cotto first reached out to Roach he told Freddie he only had 2 maybe 3 fights left in him and asked could he help him. Damn I love this game!

none of the middleweight "champs" will ever fight golovking. this is a rerun of the welterweight situation in the mid 2000's with mayorga, spinks, judah, baldomir, and floyd all playing hot potato while margarito was ranked #1. martinez refused to fight ggg, cotto probably won't, if canelo wins he prob won't, if floyd wins he definitely won't. then people will say golovking was a bum when he eventually loses even though in the meantime like 5 "champs" have lost the belt.
