  • Comments Thread For: Team Crolla: No Deal In Place For Lundy Bout

Anthony Crolla’s trainer, Joe Gallagher, contacted BoxingScene.com today to categorically deny that there is no deal in place for his world lightweight contender to fight Hank Lundy on Sep 13 in Manchester.

Lundy (25-3-1, 12KOs) had tweeted earlier today that he would be fighting on that date in Manchester and confirmed it would be against Crolla on the second weekend in September.

Gallagher says that the reward isn’t worth the risk.

“I don’t know why Hank Lundy is putting out that he’s fighting Crolla (28-4-1, 11 KOs). Unless someone’s gonna come and give Anthony fortunes of money to fight him what is the reward for him in that fight? It doesn’t outweigh the risk. I don’t where that’s come from. We wanted a world title shot that we haven’t got. So why we should fight someone, who could be as good as a world champion, for something that’s not even a final eliminator?” [Click Here To Read More]

I like Crolla, but Hank Lundy would bust him up. Lundy's infighting would be far too much for Crolla. Crolla simply doesn't have the power to back Lundy up. Joe Gallagher agrees with me.

They sound pretty scared of Lundy to be honest. It's not a good look.

Gallagher talks to much. Lundy beats crolla. Crolla has no power so he cant expose lundys chin. Crolla isnt that good he beat donestic level fighters gavin rees who was at the end of his career. John murray was rusty he had no rounds in him he gassed about after 7 rounds. Murray didnt pace him self he punched himself out after 6 rounds. He was stopped out of exhaustion if anything.

The hometown advantage is not enough anymore. Crolla is never going to see boatloads of money no matter what, so it breaks down to fear.

They are basically insinuating or rather outright saying that Lundy would bust up Crolla and they don't want that. That's the ultimate duck, but at least it is honest.

gallagher is a fraud, he doesnt want to take any risks which means he doesnt beleive he can win against a meaningful opponent. All he goes on about is his winning streak but theyre all against journeymen, any time a live fight is made he doesnt want anything to do with it. he doesnt want smith v fielding, quigg v frampton , I think frank warren would atleast make better fights........ as for cleverly and bellews opponents they were both stiffs and wont prepare either for world stage, they should fight for the european title not these minor titles cause the quality of opponent is too soft, theyre not even worth training for.
