MACAO - Flyweight Zou Shiming's win in a gritty 10-round bout over Colombia's Luis De La Rosa on Saturday night has boosted the Chinese boxer's determination to go for a shot at the world title.

Zou, who claimed the vacant World Boxing Organisation international flyweight title with the win, fought all rounds of his first ever 10-round match against Colombian veteran De La Rosa, in a show of increasing confidence and competence.

The bout was evenly matched until Zou discovered some extra aggression against veteran De La Rosa who sustained an injury to his left eyebrow at Macau's glittering Venetian casino resort.

Better make a new organization or vacate the Flyweight division because you don't beat anybody in the top 15, let alone a title holder.

Ha. Flyweight is the deepest division in boxing. Even with the Macau money, Uncle Bob, and a willing sanctioning body, they won't be able to ghost Shiming to a title.

I hate the double standards in boxing, giving fighters coming from the AMs title shots after a couple of fights just because of a great AM career or in zous case, he was essentially a cash cow before turning pro, is a joke.

We can diss mma all day but that's the exact type of thing that also made them go downhill fast, when nobodies like Lesnar get a title shot in 5 fights. FIVE.

There should be consistency in boxing, you should have at least quality 20-25 fights no matter who you are before even being considered for contention, but that's just me.

Hopefully he gets beat. Absolutely pathetic how these promoters operate. I want to see Shiming lose, Algieri beat Pac, and the pay-per-view bomb. Screw Arum

Dude...never never never and i mean never doubt the corruption in boxing and moreso corruption in the homeland of a fighter...this has Ottke - Reid written all over it, you know how much money Arum would make with an chinese champion in China, he needs him too cause Pacquiaos time is nearly over (and even more with fights against Rios/Algieri)...Shimings chin just needs to hold up for 12 rounds and its fine, so get him in with Yaegashi or Ruenrong and we got an chinese champion...

Here in Britain when one of our fighters wants to win a world title, but the belt holders in the division are too good, we pay the WBA to let us fight a low ranked opponent for the WBA Regular belt. Shiming should take note.
