Former IBO Welterweight Champion Chris Van Heerden was forced to withdraw from his first US televised appearance on Showtime due to a foot injury.
"I can't tell you how absolutley devastated I am right now. I was just wrapping up a great camp with Canelo Alvarez and sustained a freak injury to my right foot. I was hopeful that maybe I could box, until my Dr. confirmed otherwise," said Van Heerden.
Chris was looking forward to being introduced to American boxing fans on SHOBOX milestone 200th show, adding "I want to apologize to my South African fans that booked travel to US, my American fans, King Sports, GH3 Promotions, and especially Gordon Hall at Showtime who was giving me my television opportunity in the US, unfortunately dealing with injuries is part of boxing."
