Comments Thread For: Herrera Slams Garcia-Salka: Discusses Perez, Algieri

Mauricio Herrera (20-4, 7 KOs) won the hearts of many boxing fans with his performance against Philadelphia’s Danny García back in March. Although the judges awarded García a majority decision, many fans and journalists felt Herrera had done enough in Puerto Rico to become the WBA and WBC junior welterweight champion. This Saturday in Las Vegas, Herrera has another chance to further enhance his name as he faces Venezuela’s tough, Johan Pérez (19-1-1, 13 KOs) for the WBA interim title.

I have never understood why the fighters always say it's up to my promoter..say who you would like to fight and call out who ever you want to fight..

Danny Garcia is going backwards in his career just like Herrera said. I'm a Garcia fan and this fight is some BS. The few Puerto Ricans fans he may have won when he fought in PR are all going away now with this fight..Showtime will be lucky if they get 600K viewers for this fight.

I really like what Mauricio Herrera said about fighters calling the shots and fighters having the ability to choose the fights they want. Everytime I hear a champion say that it's up to his promoter when he's asked who he would like to fight next I think the same thing that Herrera said. I look forward to watching him fight this Saturday and hope that he wins in great fashion.

        Great damn interview.

We all know who the true king of 140 is. Algieri would also beat Danny IMO

First question is about Danny Garcia. Smh ppl need to get over it already. Herrera seems to be over it. He knows he won but ain't he the nod. What's the point in talking about all the time??? It's obvious Danny is going backwards. He went from Lucas to Herrera to Sharrod ralka.

Hit the nail on the head here. I hope he keeps getting asked and I hope he keeps talking trash. It's his only chance he has to get Garcia in the ring again.

We all know what happened. It's bull**** that Herrera didn't get the rematch or at least get Matthysse as consolation.
