Comments Thread For: Hearn Doubts Froch-Chavez, Froch-DeGale Possible

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is still unsure as to who IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs) will face in the fall. After drawing 80,000 fans for his eight round TKO over George Groves in May, Froch is looking for the biggest fight possible.

Hearn has reached out to Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum to make a fight between Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., but the Mexican boxer is having promotional issues with Top Rank.

The more likely option is unbeaten James DeGale (19-1, 13KOs), who is Froch's IBF mandatory. Froch has to face DeGale by February of next year. In the event it won't be DeGale, Hearn already set aside a tentative date of October 11th at the O2 Arena.

Forget Chavez ,forget Kessler, nothing to prove there Mikkel is done. The only fight that means anything is a re match with Ward but if ward like Chavez he is having problems with his team then fight Degale, It just might be a little more interesting than we think!

No big surprises that a promoter is trying to push the fight that suits him better financially then what the hardcore fans or fighter wants.

Froch vs Chavez would be a war. Froch vs DeFail would draw in casuals in the hope that DeFail gets toasted

Gutted if Froch-Chavez jr doesn't happen. DeGale deserves a shot though.

James Degale has earned his chance by winning the #1 spot for the IBF title. Whether people like it or not the guy deserves his shot.

Hardcore fans would want Froch to avenge his defeat to Ward in a chance to perhaps become best SMW of all time. A win over Chavez means nothing for Froch at all except do him good financially.

James Degale is certainly fighting Froch at a perfect time. Froch is at the stage where he can age over night and Degale's counter punching abilities will pay dividends.

Hearn wants the DeGale fight so he can get more ££ out of it.
