Comments Thread For: Hearn: When Brook Beats Porter, Pressure is On Khan

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is confident that Kell Brook (32-0, 22KOs) will make good on his career expectations by defeating Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15KOs) for the IBF welterweight title on August 16th from the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

For at least two years, Brook has been chasing a high profile domestic showdown with Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs). Despite repeated attempts by Brook and his promoter, Khan has rejected the match. Khan believes strongly that Brook has never beaten a single opponent who was ranked in the top five and refuses to entertain the fight until Brook has actually accomplished something significant.

If Brook beats Porter, im sure the the public would like to see Brook v Khan, if only because its a grudge match like Groves v Froch.

But why does Brook so desperately want Presscotts used goods, why isn't Brook desperate for Floyd? But im sure Khan would be happy to fight Brook and beat him. At least khan can boast of beating the man who beat Porter.

Khan could have fought him already if that were the case. For whatever reason he doesn't seem in any hurry to fight Brook.

Why should he fight a bum with no name and who's only reputation is his padded record and series of faking injuries and ducking fights?

Shawn Porter is a guy who, at this moment, not too many people should be so eager to fight. The kid is a junk yard dog and he knows it. Brook has his hands full.

with a lucrative matchup like this out there, it would be a crazy shift in power at welter if Brook wins this.

Khan fought Julio Diaz in Sheffield of all places. Say what you like about his record but Khan-Brook was and is a bigger fight than both Diaz and Collazo.

That won't happen. Porter will wipe the floor with Brook. I would have loved to watch Khan-Brook. That's a good fight but Brook cant beat Porter. It's also difficult for Khan to fight Brook because Brook hasnt proved himself.

Hearn always does this talks up his fighters tgen they go to america and ger schooled. Then he comes home and eats humble pie. His track aint got. Brian rose, tony bellew, lee purdy and gavin rees all stopped within 7 rounds and brook will be no different.
