Sebastian Contoursi, the adviser to Marcos "Chino" Maidana (35-4, 31KOs), is hoping to finalize an agreement for a planned rematch with WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) on September 13th at a venue to be determined. Showtime Pay-Per-View would carry the fight.

Insiders expect an official announcement as early as Monday of next week. Discussions are ongoing between the two sides. Both fighters share the same team adviser in Al Haymon. They fought on May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather won a twelve round majority decision. Maidana was very competitive in a bout where many predicted a one-sided contest in favor of Mayweather.

As much as I think this fight is a joke, a fight with Thurman doesn't sound great yet. Thurman hasn't won a title yet and brings a pretty weak resume into the fight.

What happens when he picks one time, PPV bombs, and pbf runs circles around him? I get it, Thurman, is an up and coming exciting fighter but he's no threat... Maidan mayweather ii won't go above 1 mil but at least they know it'll get close... It's tested and makes business sense... Thurman is unknown and makes no business sense... Mayweather deff should fight Thurman. I believe Thurman is a dangerous opponent to Floyd. People can say what they want, that Thurman needs to earn his shot, but he is an all action fighter. I don't watch Mayweather ppvs no more, because he is so boring. If he fights Keith, I'll buy it.

If Maidana gets his stamina up and can keep the rough pressure for more than 6 rounds he can win it. Maywather didn't like them awkward punches that where getting him, and the judges didn't even count body shots.

Word is Maidana Floyd I didn't do so well. I'd say give Cotto a rematch since he's a bigger draw and is more popular right now. Then Maybe Maidana Broner as the B attraction. Then maybe Thurman Mattysee.
