Very good commentating IMO. It could have been because HBO had no "real dog" in the fight. "May the best man win" type of thing. Then they back the winner.

On a different note, I was really impressed with showtimes coverage of loma and Russell jr as well. I thought they would have been heavily biased towards Russell.

Just weird how it could go from good commentating one week to utter **** the next.

They're pushing an agenda. Theres certain fighters that HBO invest in and want to push and at times even have exclusive rights to their fights, so ofcourse they want their commentary to PUSH those fighters to their audience to give them exposure and build em up. People act like Lampey and company are just bias on purpose lol.. Roy is excellenct at calling fights by the way, he really stepped up once he took over full time.

Jim always is one way or the other, but Max and Roy usually on point even if they do act like they're having a marital dispute sometimes.

As far as calling the events as they come with lack of bias HBO and Showtime are equal. However HBO leaves Showtime in its shadow when it comes to bringing entertainment. Lampley doesn't know boxing but he is the best color commentator and gets everyone that much more excited when the action heats up. The guys from Showtime sound forced when commentating the exciting moments whereas HBO sounds genuine. You can hear the passion in Roy, Jim, and Max last night as if they have been salivating over the chance to see this fight just as much as we have. If Showtime was commentating this fight I'm sure they would have called it correctly but instead of showing genuine passion, we the fans would have been stuck hearing old jokes between Al and that other guy that have nothing to do with boxing or what's going on in the ring.
Sorry but I completely disagree .Bernstein comes off as a genuine boxing fan , Mallinagi is a better announcer than he was a fighter a gives good insights on fights and Ronaldo's learning but always sounds enthusiastic . Its very rare that any of these guys show extreme bias like the HBO guys .I'll never forget Lampleys **** **** take that big boy comment .... Max knows some boxing but is afraid togo against the house fighter and Roy Jones is good but sounds a little punchy and laughs when he doesn't wanna upset the other two .

I'll admit, I have to catch a stream last night. I had originally started on a BoxNation stream and they were riding Crawford's nuts for the first 3 rounds of the fight. I decided to switch to HBO and to my surprise, they were discussing how great Gamboa was more or less shutting out Crawford which is also what I had in my mind.
It made me wonder what the hell the BoxNation guys were watching. I liked that HBO also switched to Crawford when he was appropriately taking over the fight. As far as BoxNation is concerned, Crawford shutout Gamboa from beginning until the knockout.

Lampley is starting to annoy me. I'm glad Max started doing that. Also RJJ is excellent in his role. HBO has got a good team together.

Lamps is biased as f**k, but nevertheless, when he's gone he'll be missed.

Love him or hate him, he IS the voice of boxing. When he leaves it'll be like Al Michaels leaving Monday Night Football.
