As far as calling the events as they come with lack of bias HBO and Showtime are equal. However HBO leaves Showtime in its shadow when it comes to bringing entertainment. Lampley doesn't know boxing but he is the best color commentator and gets everyone that much more excited when the action heats up. The guys from Showtime sound forced when commentating the exciting moments whereas HBO sounds genuine. You can hear the passion in Roy, Jim, and Max last night as if they have been salivating over the chance to see this fight just as much as we have. If Showtime was commentating this fight I'm sure they would have called it correctly but instead of showing genuine passion, we the fans would have been stuck hearing old jokes between Al and that other guy that have nothing to do with boxing or what's going on in the ring.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

And I love Max goes, "uuuuggghhhh, this is a great fight!" That **** always gets me super pumped.
Word,or Roy screaming oh that over hand hurt Crawford really bad just then..LOL,they had me pumped all the way in this one..With the accurate call of what was being seen in the fight..Not so much opinion about what's happening in the fight..

Max did the best job during that fight. Respect.
Max has been getting a lot of stick on twitter for being biased, so he maybe reigned it in.

The Colonel, Merchant and Poncher were on BoxNation, they weren't too bad.

I don't totally agree here,Jim get's caught up in calling a fight from his own perspective to much..Which is not a color commentators job..I'm not saying don't have an opinion, but don't let your opinion leave an imprint on the fight..Which far too often Lampley does and it's very annoying..

Say what ya will about the Showtime commentators, this is rarely the case with them..

Lampley was horrible. To me it seems like whenever he is in the mood to call out a fighters punches he will NEVER EVER call out the other fighter's landed punches. Max checked him on that as well. Max and Roy were grade A though.

Haha, there was so much "slickness" in that ring, that he couldn't help but to be unbiased.

Max, Roy and Paulie are the best . Would love them commentating together. It's too funny when Roy refers to himself in the third person
