Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Focused on Making The Best Fights Possible

Oscar De La Hoya's fighting days in the ring are long behind him. But that does not mean he is going to give up on fighting a good fight.

De La Hoya will not have to worry about a stinging jab, vicious hooks, or attempting to figure out a puzzling defense, something he had to worry about when fighting the likes of Pernell Whitaker, Felix Trinidad, or Floyd Mayweather.

Is Manny vs. Danny the best fight that can be made?

"There's a lot of possibilities," said Dela Hoya, who was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on Sunday. "You can do (Marcos) Maidana versus (Manny) Pacquiao. You can do (Lucas) Matthysse and Brandon Rios. There's a lot of possibilities."

Wow. He mentioned Matthysse. See the ******ity of the Haymon/Schaefer-led GBP? Matthysse has to wait for the cold war to end to get the fights fans want to see. What about Broner vs Matthysse?

Look at the other names in the Haymon-led roster:

Broner, Khan, Guerrero, Thurman, Porter, Alexander, Peterson, Berto, Lopez, Ortiz...

Nine names that Matthysse have yet to fight in his own backyard. There are still five names for Maidana. Thurman has yet to fight almost every name in his own backyard... Yet Haymon/Schaefer have to pit them with no name fighters. You have to have nine lives with these two clowns to see these fights happen. The overprotectionism is sickening.

Oscar hitting the boxing cliche's with a hard left hook.

Well done Oscar. I respect him even more than I did when he was a boxer now.
