I thought Josesito Lopez beat him (in a close could-go-either-way type fight) and kind of shrugged Vargas off, but I didn't realize at the time
1) Lopez is a pretty good fighter.
2) Vargas was only 22 years old at the time!
Then he beats Allakherdiev who I thought for sure was going to win a title at 140 pounds and now I'm starting to be sold on him. I don't know what facing Novikov is going to do for his career, but maybe by the end of 2014 we can see Provodnikov vs. Vargas for the WBO 140 pound title!

I don't understand the hate for this guy. Close fights don't equal gifts or robberies. Vargas just needs to keep winning and he will build a decent name for himself.

He is solid in just about every area but he has no special effects as I like to say, such as either serious power, dazzling speed, charismatic personality, controversial character. The "IT" factor is not there. Doesn't mean he cant carve a place for himself as a champ, just nothing special about him on the highest elite levels. Nothing wrong with that.

He's got some skill, but he's kinda limited.
