Back for the first time after suffering his first career setback to Giovanni Segura, former Olympian Jonathan 'Bomba' Gonzalez (13-1-1, 11 KO's) had to settle for a majority draw in an eight round bout with Michael Ruiz Jr. (9-4-2 and 3 KO's) at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center in Buffalo, New York. To put it simple - Bomba aint all that. I expected a little bit more against a setup fight.

I really thought he would look better. He showed a lot of promise but don't know if he has it.

No shame on the Segura fight but he should had impressed with this type of opponent

Way to early for him to fight Gio when he did. I made good money. They rushed him bad. I still have no idea why he was the favorite. It was like Dulorme and De Valle. Way to early.

I think Bomba is ruined tbh. I don't think he'll every reach the potential he could have

I have noticed that in PR they are looking for the next star and they are rushing their prospects. Instead of building them they are taking too much of an early beating that could hamper their careers.

Theses guys have to graduate to the next level instead of being rushed in

Exactly - Calderon is retired, and Cotto will very shortly

There is no shortage of promising prospects throughout the island and mainland - but they have to grow. It's this wave of cashing in early like Rigo and what Lomachenko is trying to do. It's just not the way it's supposed to go.

That's why I have high hopes for Verdejo. He has star written all over him. He's personable, he's got great pedigree and his boxing is outstanding. A great combo of speed, power, size and technique - Top Rank is moving him slowly.

Lomo vs Verdejo could have been the future Mayweather vs Pac - but Lomo effed it up trying to fight a real man when he wasn't ready
