Comments Thread For: Martinez's Trainer Says Speed Has Improved For Cotto

Motivation has never been a problem within Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez's team. But for the fight against Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs), the Argentine boxer is pushing himself to make a clear statement that he can still compete at a high level despite the fact that he is 39 years of age. Martinez will return, after healing several injuries, for the first time since beating Martin Murray last April in Argentina.

He won't get better than he was in his prime, that's impossible without PEDs.

He can get better than he was in his last fight against Murray if his knee injuries are healed, though.

::Yawns:: So boring when these trainers make the same ridiculous claims to build up confidence in their fighters...every fighter is having their best training camp...every fighter is showing more of some ability than when they were younger..blah blah blah..Martinez got dropped by a C+ fighter from the UK..he's not the same Martinez if he were..I'd be confident he'd win..not the case anymore...yah Martinez is faster now after the knee surgery and after looking mediocre in his last fight..yah I'm sure he's faster as he's getting older and his body is breaking down...because that's how it normally happens..

Well with the exception of PEDinimita Marquez and B-HoPED

Man if this is true that Sergio Martinez got a little faster he may really knock Miguel Cotto to the 4th row for real Mortal Kombat upper cut style. Cotto can't handle speed & movement very well anyways. I really don't see any advantage Miguel Cotto has in this fight.

Martinez doesn't need to be any faster to beat Cotto. He's already fast enough.
