Comments Thread For: Roach Says Cotto's Punching Power Will Make Statement

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach credits Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs) as being one of the hardest punchers that he ever worked with.

On June 7th at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Cotto will move up to the middleweight division to challenge WBC champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs). Cotto wants to become the first boxer to capture world titles in four weight divisions. He already won titles at 140, 147 and 154. The fight with Martinez takes place at a catch-weight of 159, which is one-pound under the limit.

I hope they found an extra gear because Cotto will need it come fight night. My heart is with Cotto but my wallet is with Martinez!

Martinez will take whatever Cotto brings to the table but Cotto won't take Martinez punches. Cotto is in for another beating.

Yeah he's got this power and yet Pac walked through Cotto's punches like they were nothing. Hmm.

Cotto/Pac was @ 145... this fight is 159... at the end of the day speed kills, thats why Cotto lost to Pacquiao.

Putting the catchweight of 145 to the side, let's not forget what Margarito did in 2008 (Cotto fought Manny a year later)! That was horrible, and Margarito should've never been allowed to fight again. I think that Arum giving Margarito another fight was just as horrible! I believe that's why Cotto left TR. Arum tried to get Cotto a rematch before Cotto fought Floyd, but this time the wanted Cotto to come down to 150 from 154, and Cotto declined. I think we'll see the best Cotto since 2009 on June 7th.
