Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26KOs), the middleweight champion of the World Boxing Association, was ordered to start negotiations for his next mandatory fight with Jarrod Fletcher. Fletcher (18-1, 10KOs), ranking second in the division, is the highest ranked available contender to face Golovkin. The negotiations period will consist of 30 days, starting on May 13. If no agreement is reached, or neither side is willing to negotiate during this time, the fight will be sent to a purse bid.

The unbeaten middleweight knockout artist has been ordered by the World Boxing Association (WBA) - whose title he has held for nearly four years and has successfully defended 10 times - to begin negotiations with Australia's Jarrod Fletcher, who is next in line for a mandatory title fight. The fight was ordered by the WBA as of May 13, giving 30 days from that point to work out terms for a title fight.
