Comments Thread For: HBO, Golovkin Eye July Return With or Without Chavez

If there’s a bright side for Gennady Golovkin in light of his proposed July 19 showdown with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on the verge of falling through, it’s that things can return to exactly where they were.

The reigning middleweight titlist was prepared to move up to super middleweight to accommodate Chavez Jr. for what would have been a pay-per-view headliner. As Chavez Jr. squabbles with promoter Top Rank over his current contract and proposed extensions in order to make this fight happen, Golovkin can take comfort in the fact that he will be returning in July, and at his normal weight.

Chavez Sr Agrees His Son Has A Lot Of Maturing Left; Golovkin Will Beat Him Down

Chavez Jr needs to grow up. He doesn't understand the business, won't listen to his dad, won't listen to his trainers, just wasting his talent away right now.

On the other hand as GGG mentioned earlier this year, he has plenty in front of him as he strives to clean out the Middleweight division. You gotta love from a pure Boxing stand point, GGG wants to fight 3-4 times a year ; what's not to love about that! He already signed the paperwork to fight Chavez; Julio stalled the deal out. There's Cotto, Sergio, Canelo, Sturm all available to wage war; gotta love guys that will fight.

Lee, N'Dam or Mora. I don't wanna see Kirkland cause #1 we know he has a horrible chin. If GGG wins, I can hear the excuses now. #2 he's a 154 lber, again we'll hear complaints about GGG fighting smaller guys.

Ward BS with Goosen is over. Make ward v GGG. GGG was going to 168 for Chavez. DO same for ward. Put it on WCB. Fight in MSG.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they staged a PPV with Ward straight away? Both guys are stuck. GGG got stood up. Ward is not going anywhere. Say Ward offers a catchweight fight a 164. Mocking GGG and saying that he'll give up 4 pounds if GGG is not man enough to face him at 168, as he would face Chavez. That'd be the day...

Only Ward is not capable of gestures like that. He didn't fight Bute, he didn't rematch Froch. He's suing his promoter. Good to see him not getting fights - maybe he'll realize universe is trying to tell him something...

Rubio is saving his mandatory spot for Martinez. He's not fighting Golovkin.
N'dam injured his hand in his last fight.
Lee has a fight signed already.
Geale has a fight signed already
                  Quillin gonna Quillin.

Golovkin is gonna be forced to overcome his ophidiophobia next.
